Glaucous Gull, Long Drove Cottenham, 22nd February 2013 © Steve Cooper
'This is the same bird that has been roosting on the Ouse Washes, the stout pink bill with a dipped in ink black tip and a short primary projection confirm the id and the dark eye and the lack of a pale tip to the black on the bill confirm that it is a juvenile (2cy). The pale plumage is not due to wear but is a plumage trait, some suggest that this is due to different geographical population being involved.'SC
