'Wild Mandarin are so elusive and I have been trying to get photo's of juveniles as this plumage is not shown well in field guides etc.
The broken eye ring and lack of white feathering at the bill base identify these as juveniles as adults in eclipse show full eye rings and a prominent white line at the bill base. The pink bill identifies the male, grey in female...' SC
