Common Buzzard

Juvenile Common Buzzard, 14th July 2020 © Adrian George
'A local farmer friend alerted me to the fact that the single offspring of a pair of Buzzards which have been around his farm for years was about to fledge, as (he) had seen it out of the nest, on a branch, flapping away like mad.
I went up to the oak tree which housed the nest and as I was looking at it, which I thought would be the only reward for my journey as the bird had probably flown, lo and behold the juvenile hopped out of the nest onto a branch where it stayed for all of 10 seconds before launching itself into the air. It flew perfectly and was soon in the company of it's parents who reacted to it's calls.' AG
