'We have now reached the time of the year when the winter Blackcap are thinking about returning to their summer quarters. Once again I have been colour ringing Blackcap in the garden and attach a couple of pics of this seasons birds. Have ringed 9 so far this season.In addition there is a pic of an unringed female responding to a Robin trying to approach the food source. One the birds colour ringed 2011/12 returned to the garden in December and is still present. This is the first record I have of a bird returning in successive seasons. Hope this is of some interest and you can encourage your members to look out for colour ringed birds.' RI
