Common Buzzard
'I
took these snaps in Willingham, high up and quite a distance
away. I believe they show something of the courtship of two
Common Buzzards. Of course, I might be wrong! Can’t see anything similar on the web. Not pictures to hang
on the wall but might be of interest from a behavioural point of view.' CB

Black Redstart
'...with no moult contrast in the greater coverts [on the
black red] the bird is difficult to age/ sex. Now that it is singing however it
is safe to say it's likely to be a 2nd calendar yr male. About 80-85% of these
stay in female type plumage but can be given away by their song.' JH

Reed Bunting
'I was trying to see how many individuals were
visiting the garden with the help of the photo's it is nine so far (4 males 5
females) .
This is a regular bird more advanced than some of the
others, he has distinctive white primary coverts.' SC

Reed Bunting
'I have been have fun with the Reed Bunting's that are coming into the garden at the moment, the different rates of moult and wear are producing some smart non field guide looking males to say the least, the females are also very variable at the moment.' SC
