Kingfisher
Kingfisher, Barway, 21st August 2017 © Wendy Flack
'After
hearing a thump on the bedroom window I looked out and saw a pile of turquoise
feathers on the ground. Before the dogs or cats could investigate I
picked this little unconscious bird up, kept him warm and safe for ten minutes
until he came around. He eventually sat up in my hand, opening and
closing his beak and shaking his head a little. He just sat quietly for
perhaps ten minutes perched on my hand as I wandered around the house. He
decided it was time to return and quietly flew off into the trees surrounding
the lake beside our house. I watched him sit in the trees for a minute or
so bright turquoise in the branches and then off he went - possibly with
a headache.' WF

'I
would like to submit some photos to be displayed on the Cambridgeshire Bird
Club website. These photos of a yellow wagtail, linnet and grey wagtail were
taken recently at Denny Abbey and Farmland Museum, Waterbeach. I work there and
have frequently seen them on the site this summer. Previously, no one realised
they were there. I would like to raise awareness of the endangered status of
farmland birds through providing a source of information about it at the
museum. If you have any information or advice about these birds I would be very
grateful.' JS
If anyone would like to help, please e-mail me and I will pass on to Josie. ED

'This is one of a family of sparrowhawks, taken from my garden in Cambridge. I think this is the female. Two fledglings are also around. The garden is always full of screaming.' MJ
