Common Crane
3 hours of watching two distant Cranes do very little.
when one suddenly started to display, rapidly getting the interest of the other
which then progressed into a full blown mating
finally ending in a celebratory dance

An enthralling but surprising activity during late October.
I have since been informed that the female, named Beatrice, was hatched 28th April 2011 under the Great Crane Project of the Somerset levels and arrived in Cambs earlier this year. This may be the first time she has chosen a mate. GP
