'Attached photos taken two weeks ago. Doug Radford asked me to delay sending them in for a week in case a female turned up  ( it is now 2 weeks ). He did actually say he thought it was already too late for them to breed !

Doug said it is a 2CY denoted by the two central dark tail feathers on the rear shot.' BW

'A couple of record shots of the 2nd summer type Arctic Tern at Paxton on Sunday evening (with Sanderling in the background in 1st!). The extent of the white on the forehead lead me to believe it was a 1st summer until I had it on the deck at closer range to reveal that it actually had a dark red (not black) bill and red legs.' JW
