Great Northern Diver
Great Northern Diver, Grafham Water, 30th March 2014 © Mark Hawkes
'Two Great Northern Diver photos from today at Grafham Water - the murky haze was making it hard to get a sharp image. As their second-calendar year progresses, the pale fringes on the back, which are typical of a fresh juvenile, start to wear away, and the whole plumage takes on a darker effect.' MH

Taking photos of nesting birds as not condoned by the club and would not be published if it disturbs the birds in any way. This image was taken from the car on the road at around 100 meters from the site so no disturbance took place but I still took other advice and thought long and hard before posting it. GP
