'Note in the shot with fish he has pierced all the way through the body of this quite large fish with his beak, which I thought was quite impressive.' MB

'.... the Marsh Harrier is in partial hover (look closely to see the Bittern beneath him), I have also sent a shot (have a whole sequence) of the Marsh Harrier in pursuit / hunting.' MB

Common Buzzard

'....Common Buzzard that I took in the parish of, I think, Newton
(by the Newton to Fowlmere Road). Its markings are strange, and if I read
the Collins Guide properly, they are consonant with Common Buzzards found in N
Germany / S Sweden. It’s no wonder the French for Buzzard is “buse
variable”.' MM

Red-throated Diver

'I
was amazed to receive a phone call this morning to say that a red-throated
diver was fishing in the mere at the reserve. Thankfully I got there before it
flew off at 1.22pm. A cracking adult, and an unpredictable first reserve
record.' DJR

Long-tailed Duck

I finally got a reasonable view of this today (despite it being at Grafham since October 12th) which allowed me to get some record shots, and reconsider the sex of the bird. It's definitely a juvenile, and probably a female after all.' MH

Not a large showing as they came in dribs and drabs and quickly settled to roost.
