Marsh Harrier

'....the marsh harrier picking up what appeared to be balls of dead material, I have spoken to Doug (Radford) and he is not sure what this is. Any ideas?' GH

Geoff, this is probably 'play prey' behaviour. There was a note in October's British Birds on last year's Northern harrier doing it, seems to be a sort of training exercise. Regards James H
