Sedge Warbler

Sedge Warbler, Wibraham Fen, 30th June 2013 © Bob Jarman

'Photo of a ringed Sedge Warbler at Wilbraham Fen. Although I didn't notice the ring at the time only when viewing the photo! I assumed it was one of Michael Holdsworth's birds who rings there but no!
If you rotate the picture you'll see that it probably says "...USE PAR...." which could be
part of "MUSEUM PARIS" so it's probably a French ring.' BJ

'This male was displaying and strutting its stuff in front of the female .It walked round like a demented chicken for a short while, the female didn’t make any eye contact, then she flew off followed by the male.' GT

Cormorant

'A friend took these images last weekend near Stretham of a cormorant tackling an eel - and coming off second best. Apparently the cormorant couldn't subdue the eel, which eventually broke free and then attacked the cormorant, biting it around the chest (unfortunately the second photo is not as clear as the first, although by the cormorant's expression the eel's got hold of something! The eel then chased the cormorant, at speed, across the water until the cormorant took flight.' Geoff Barlow who submitted the images on Helen's behalf.

Water Rail

'Doug at Fowlmere suggested I send this photo to you.  Apparently the leucistic water rail that is nesting somewhere near the Drewer Hide at Fowlmere is rather camera shy, so I seem to have been lucky to get this rather poor quality snap as it rushed across in front of me. Perhaps if you post it on the website the picture will encourage someone to spend some time in the hide and get a rather better quality record. You have to admit that the bird is quite striking.' CP
