Yellow Wagtail

Yellow Wagtail, Fen Drayton RSPB, 5th April 2010, © Stuart Elsom
'I’ve heard this bird call and it sounds like a flavissima – no hint of the harder more raspy tones of eastern birds. The undertail coverts are yellow – wrong for Citrine as they show white at all ages, the mantle and nape has a greyish cast but still with the olive tones of a typical bird and there is a broad pale supercilium. An interesting bird but definitely a Yellow Wagtail, albeit a very washed out one.’ – Thanks to Neil for bringing it to my attention when I was there' - SME
