'...the bewick is Yellow 509, a male I ringed as a cygnet in the 07/08 winter. It has been returning to Dunkirk every season since, and last year brought its first cygnet with it. That cygnet, ringed Green AHC, came back to the lake by itself on January 3rd 2014, six weeks after its father arrived, and they clearly recognised each other.' TM
