'Two Great Northern Diver photos from today at Grafham Water - the murky haze was making it hard to get a sharp image. As their second-calendar year progresses, the pale fringes on the back, which are typical of a fresh juvenile, start to wear away, and the whole plumage takes on a darker effect.' MH
