Jackdaw
Jackdaw, Peterborough, 14th October 2009 © Peter Beesley
The obvious contrast between a grey body, back and nape, and black wings, tail, crown and forehead is consistent with Eastern/Nordic Jackdaw Corvus m. monedula. The lack of an obvious white neck collar is indicative of an immature and/or female (Rudy Offereins in litt). There is another picture of this bird on Peter's Blog.

Most County records relate to juveniles so this adult is unusual.

At last, a County record of this species that allows a reasonably close-up photograph, no doubt after some painstaking field work from Jamie.

Only the fifth record for Cambs. What a way to start the month.
