Tawny Owl
Tawny Owl, Waresley, 25th March 2007, © Stuart Elsom. Tawny Owls are difficult to photograph in flight as they move between the trees in shaded woodland. This bird at Waresley was patrolling the rides late in the afternoon before vanishing into the wood prior to dusk." SME

Kestrel
Female Kestrel, Alconbury, 11th March 2007, © Stuart Elsom
This female Kestrel was perched alongside the minor road into
Alconbury earlier today. It allowed me to fire off a handful of shots
before flying off. A case of right time right place.

Sparrowhawk & Magpie
Female Eurasian Sparrowhawk with Magpie prey, Little Gransden, 10th March 2007, © Adrian George. Large female Sparrowhawks are known to regularly take sizeable prey including birds up to the size of Woodpigeons. This Magpie was clearly a big challenge and put up quite a fight, eventually giving up the struggle after some two hours. During this time the Sparrowhawk seemed oblivious to Adrian as he photographed this grisly spectacle down to ten feet! (JL).
